As sad day indeed, the OK Don 300D got sold again and left my
driveway just a little while ago. Any bets on how long it takes to
come back this time?

You could do a lot worse than calling Rusty. He is an amazingly helpful
resource.

the tangs that turn the switch were broken off the mechanism
in the housing, so I had to buy the housing.
My guess is that somebody didn't like the only-start-once
mechanism that's in the switch, and tried to force it to
the start position again.

Driving into town today, everything seemed normal. Then went through a stretch
of road work, stop and go for 15 minutes or so. Then at the next stoplight,
when I started off the car would not shift out of 1st gear (or do these start
in 2nd?). Anyway, no shifting in forward gears. Reverse
Passing gear switch under the throttle pedal is stuck down. Pull it up with
pliers, order a new one from Rusty, and don't floor it anymore, until it is
replaced. :)

Thanks I'll check that. I don't recall flooring the accelerator to the point
of hitting the kickdown switch, but I do tend to use a pretty heavy foot
starting off from a stop (drive like you stole it, RIP Marshall).

It may be shorted internally, from water perhaps. You may have to unplug it.

I operated the kickdown switch manually a few times and the problem went
away. It was not stuck down, nor does it seem sticky when I
depress/release it, but there does seem to be something at issue.

Opened up the 300SD today to air it out. We've had what's seemed like a
month of continuous rain and finally today is warm and sunny.
I've had it under a tarp (one of those blue poly woven ones) through all
the rain, because when I got it it had water on the floor so I knew

A new kickdown switch costs maybe $15. Good investment in this case.

Exactly my problem. Open the sunroof and pour water in the four corners to
test which drains are blocked.

Do the 208's share bad habits (rust in middle of panels, spring perch, etc)
with the 210?
The rust issues are caused by first-gen water-borne paint

How do you clear a blocked drain? Compressed air? Stiff wire?
