My younger son did a quite decent job on our old 95 4Runner. It was rusted out over the rear wheel arches on both sides and at the lower edge of the rear quarters going back to the bumper. He cut and welded pieces of sheet metal into the areas where it was bad. It is not perfect and it does

Thought we we had major problems with my son-in-law's 300TD a couple of days ago. He left it idling before work and came out to stalled vehicle. When he cranked it over it sounded like somebody dumped a box of rocks in the block. Upon hearing the noise he did not attempt to start it again.
