After a bit more digging, it would seem there are two problems with swapping in
a later, high-lift cam
- cam towers and bearings are larger
- valve spring caps will hit stem seals because of increased lift

I had the same issue this past summer. I bought a Snapon unversal a/c clutch
service kit, it did not have the right tools to remove and install the MB
nippondenso clutch. I did find on Ebay a tool MSC91011 seller CCVTOOLS , I
asked him which compressors it would work with his reply was
Just looked this tool up on Amazon and it's as cheap as $13.00. The clutch
holding tool can be had for around $8.00.
For under $30 I'll probably go ahead and get them.
