In July, I would expect it to cost some multiple of what you'd spend to operate
a dedicated water heater.
But you're right, not a fortune, clearly less than you'd spend
I don't buy things from Rusty, I use Gary and a local dealer which I have
an excellent relationship with. I went with the dealer on this one since I
wanted MB hose to match all the other MB hose I'm using. It seems demand
is low, since they had to order it from Germany.
The bypass hose is 38mm,
The water pump/generator arrangement on the M189 is quite unique but scary.
The parts for the coupling are NLA, and the water pump may or may not be
available.
The water pump on my 1962 300SE bit the big one, and in 1999 or 2000 it was
close to $400 and had to come from the Fatherland.
Good
Dimitri,
Is the roof still on your housemine is. Gotta love those 50-60mph gusts!
BTW, may I borrow your manual if you are not using it?

I think the caps are available again, and they don't seem that they're as
expensive as they used to be. At least, I see them for sale here and
there. Mine is in pretty good shape, so I just cleaned it up and will see
how it goes.
Next M189 challenge I have to deal with is an oil leak at the
Roof still here:) Although, I felt my bed shake with the wind this morning.
Last thing I would of expected out of an old sturdy house like that!
Yes, of course you can borrow it. I'll be back home in an hour or two if you
want to drop by.

In 2000 or thereabouts the caps, if you could find an NOS one, were running in
the low $300 range. Fortunately, mine didn't need one, but I was trying to be
proactive and source one should I need it. I think I found one courtesy of

M189 is legendary engine that built legends.
What a combination.
As for advanced for its time... absolutely! 30 years ago I went
through the USAF museum at dayton. Looking at the captured DB605
engine and comparing it to merican
According to my local MB dealer those short pieces of hose are now once again
available. You no longer have to buy the whole meter long piece. That is of
course if you absolutely need it right now and the dealer has it in stock ,
which is doubtful. Much easier and quicker to go with Rusty.
