Classic symptoms of a clogged fuel filter -- you loose power at speed first! Change the filters before getting too concerned, and get some algicide in the tank pronto. The second 300D had this issue, the PO was using some custom mix of bio, diesel, and waste oil. Fuel gauge acted funny

#1: What Jim and Mitch said. Plus add agicide to the tank. Algicide such as Biobor can be found at marine stores or truckstops. Another symptom of plugged fuel filters in an SDL is premature downshifting when going up a grade. Also, veg oil congeals (polymerizes) in the tank when it sits

The top speed in my 300SD went down when I had an algae bloom in my tank and plugged the clear pre-filter. I could leave home with a fine running car, notice a power drop on the way home from town, and be unable to drive more than 30mph by the time I got home. Swap your fuel filters. If it
