Its not the weight its where the weight is, the length puts it way out there. IIRC the rule of thumb was longer barrels for trap and shorter for skeet, I don't remember for sporting clays, I'd think shorter because fewer of the shots are a long swing. Swing speed suffers in a longer barrel.
