The Movie by Lynch is his standard weird 80’s mind F. It only hit the high
points of the book and lacked the real meat to be able to grok the story fully.
The boys at SciFi channel made some movies that were more coherent.
The book Dune is close to a chronicle of middle east exploitation by
Vermiculture run amok.

Might have to read the book.
I stumbled upon the movie on TV long before I read the book, and was kind of
confused.
It didn't help that I missed the beginning, so I found Paul and his mom alone
in the desert after his dad was killed, and the kid had to fight a guy to the
death for reasons not
Don't bother, it's terrible. I got tired of terrible blackness and weird
dialogue in 1976 when Lynch was just starting out. Needs a shrink, bad.
