Yes lumber is what I use also. Sections of 4x8 and 4x10 left over from
house framing. I also make ramps out of it.
I will say that getting up and down off the ground all afternoon is good
exercise...but a lift is the only really civilized way to do things.

Good work! I had the same issue with the fuel sender on my ponton... it
was seized and inoperable... I freed it up and cleaned the contacts and it
still works Years later!

Wilton's was a 1987, the only year we had the OM603 turbo in the E class.
Mid 1970s-1981 were NA OM617. (turbo in the '81 wagon)

Regarding the power steering filter, whomever installed the wrong filter
did you a nice favor by also leaving the original plate there. I would
imagine that sourcing that plate would be a pain, if they had decided to
through that away.
