My dad had an Olds 98 diesel. It was a dark red with red cushy interior. I
drove it a few times and it did nothing for me.

I wondered if it was original. The trunk badge is too far to the center, is it
not?

Why would it shake after it got warmed up good?
Transmission issue?
Fan out of balance?
Engine issue?

And heated/reclining seats in the back along with the footrests! The front
seats can be replaced. Otherwise, it looks pretty solid. I’m always impressed
when I see one of these that still has the distributor cover. Most of these are
long gone, like belly pans.

Ours is at about 340kmi, IIRC. Total maintenance so far during its time with
us:
Idler pulley, and belt
Front brake pads
CPS
Thermostat
Water pump
Both front axles. (Torn boots.)
Front shock absorbers.

The W211 wagons are pretty much the pinnacle for MB wagons in my mind,
especially if you can find a nice E500 version. They *are* more complex and
require an SDS system to maintain them if you’re going to do anything of
significance. That’s not to scare you, just to help you understand that
Any particular areas of concern on these? I have wanted a wagon for a long time. But, the 123 Wagons cost a fortune. The 124 diesel wagon is the same. The 300TE Is hard to find. And anything recent scares me because of all the tech and reliability. So, the 211 Wagons are good? I drove a loaner

Not bad at all. I love the W211 wagons, but they’re not terribly common and

Too bad it isn’t closer so you could check it out. It would be interesting to

Wonderful cars. The Camry of Mercedes. In the rust belt, they rust. Tennessee,
probably not so much. The facelift models (2000-2002, 2003 for wagons) are
better cars. The 2001-2002 had increased corrosion protection or something on
the spring perches.

Donald,
The W210 is the “Camry” of the Mercedes line. They’re very reliable and
reasonable to operate and maintain. I’ve had at least one in my fleet at any
given time for at least 7 years.
The most important thing is where the car has lived, as they are extremely
prone to rusting if they

Anyway, a R500 not a 350, looks fairly decent. Question is whether the

Depends on how much the seller wants for it. 210s are very reliable
cars and that will do 28mpg all day long in reasonable comfort. More
reliable than a 211 I think, or least fewer things to go wrong, but not
as comfortable. If the price is good, and here I would say sub $2k if

A friend of mine is considering a W210. His elderly neighbor has it. Spotless
but hasn’t been driven much. 10 year old gas in it. He asked me if it was
worth it. The only things I remember is most people like the 124 and they skip
right over to the 211.
