Since replacing the #4 #5 fuel injectors had no effect on the rough idle and
smoking upon cold startup in my '85 300TD, I thought I'd use a procedure which
one of our listers had previously suggested for Lubro Moly Diesel Purge, where
it was suggested to empty the fuel filter of diesel fuel,
I started and ran my '85 300TD a little while ago and it still has a rough idle
and smokes upon a cold startup, but warms up in 2-3 min. and then the idle is
as smooth as an old diesel will get and the smoking ceases, so there's no
change after I changed the #4 5 fuel injectors yesterday.
Those of us who've been on this list for awhile are all familiar with the

After finishing the valve stem seals replacement on my '85 300TD, I noticed
some considerable cracking on the interior of the fan/drive belts and decided

The normal degradation in tires due to wear, road hazards, etc. are visual

cause off-gasing of internal lubricant (e.g., phthalates in vinyl dashes)
Amost done, all I've gotta' do now is adjust the #3-5 cylinder's valves and put
