So a few decades back I was at our quarterly qual. We had completed most of the
session when the instructor (NOT a pal of mine) told all the shooters to step
back from the firing line except for me. He replied to my WTF? question by
explaining that the 4" bbl. .357 personally owned revolver I carried required a
50 yd. qual. Uhhh...ok. It would have been nice to know in advance.

They set up a reduced size target at 25. I lined up my sights as best I could
and fired single action and hit the 10 ring 5 out of 6 shots, which I only
discovered when I pulled the target back, since I could not see hits in the
black. I'm no super pistolero, but can do single action pretty good.

I never fired that course again, I think we went to semi-autos after that.

The body is pretty amazing. Years ago we were at the range and this group
shows up to bring granddad out to shoot. The old guy got out a 1911 Colt .45
but to load the magazine into the gun he had to put both on the table and push
them together. He shook like a leaf in a bad wind.We all stood back expecting
this to all go horribly wrong.

Well the old guy stands up, settles into position and proceeds to put 5 shots
in the 9 or 10 ring at 50 yards! While he was shooting he didn't even wiggle,
solid as a rock. We thanked him for coming out and putting on the
demonstration...
