Or you can just go to the listmom or fleabay or the car-part.com and buy a used oil cooler. That way someone else had to take the big oil line nuts off.

I did this - bought a used one - when I was trying to do the fix on my 83 300SD. Although it wasn't pitted as badly, the used one leaked oil at the lower fitting like the original. Eventually I gave up and just slathered the threads on the original with JB Weld. That has been working for about 15 years. My plan is if/when I have to replace the oil cooler hoses again and I can't get the lower hose off I will do the JB Weld trick once more with the spare cooler I now have.
