Can you use just one long extension and can you get an impact type extension? My experience with impact guns is that every joint in the setup tends to lessen the impact force. If it is really tight you need to be as up close and personal as possible and have a good gun with lots of torque

My neighbor, retired military with too much time on his hands, has been pampering his '83 300CD with all sorts of non-urgent work (my judgment, not his). His latest project is to remove and replace his starter motor strictly for preventive reasons. This topic must have come up on this forum.

With a series of 1/2 drive extensions and universal joints. The worst part is that you have very little room to turn, so you must get everything wound up so the slack is out of it before you get it positioned to turn the ratchet. You have to snap the driver to break it loose, so I've found.

Dan is right... you just need a bunch of extensions and the 10mm hex on a swivel. You come in from the bottom along the transmission. Laying under the car, you can work the ratchet with two hands. Its helpful to have a helper to get the hex key into the bolt. Its not a fun job, but not really
