The job can be done on either 123 or 126 without pulling the springs. 9 times out of 10, the little tabs on the big carrier thing bolts will break and you cant hardly get a wrench in there to hold the nut. YOu have to press the joint in and out of the carrier. Gary Hurst wrote: you are

A friend of mine has an '87 300SDL in need of new brake support/caster joints. I've been under the car and it looks like the job can be done with the coil springs in place, unlike the 123. Can it? If so, the job looks pretty simple - any tricks or things to look out for? Many thanks, Tom
