I've complained about the rear suspension my '84 190D off and on since I got
it. That said the trip to and from ChowdaQ was so bad I need to finally either
do something about it or get rid of the car.
The problem: When accelerating from a stop when the car shifts gears the rear
end torques to
What sort of rear suspension does it have? Struts or coils?
Basically, given what you have already done without improving it, I have
to think either that the springs are bad or the alignment is out, or both.
Any evidence that the vehicle has had damage from an accident in its past?

For the lower link (aka spring link) outer bushing, I've seen a write-up
for making your own tool, but I wouldn't recommend it. I bought the Sir
Tools version of the special tool, about $110 IIRC, it worked fine with one
caveat: you must have it lined up perfectly straight, or you will

You can likely buy a press for a couple of hundred and you will have
Replace the subframe mounts - there are four, fronts are different
than rears.
This will cure most of the strange behavior, if not all.
Check the condition of the tie rods, too, just in case.
I'm planning on doing this job on the 300D, same issue.

Guess I'll have to do that too -- mine is getting close to undrivable
and the station wagon has both front springs with chunks missing off
the ends, and until I get them replace I won't drive it.
Probably need ball joints up front, too, and I suspect a steering
coupler. All the usual
