Those are the Nippondenso compressors used in the W126, W210, and
W124 chassis cars (and maybe others). You will need to change the
rear housing usually, as most applications did not use a speed
sensor, but unless the bearings went really bad, the speed sensor is
fine, and it's

I just went to Autozone got a compressor for a 1985 Chevy 1500 pickup and

For how long?
Isn't the R4 the compressor that needs to be set up to run upside down without
suffering from lube failure?

Some Camrys, and perhaps some others, use the 10PA series.

Yep, I think it was in 2006 I posted to the list the model I found an
appropriate compressor on, and how I swapped clutches and made it
work on my SDL. I guess I could re-post it if anyone wants to beg in
place of finding it in the archives, if they are working again.

George,
So does Rusty say the R5 is a direct replacement for the R4, which I believe
your car uses? I googled R5 and I have to admit, I never heard of one.

Well I finally got to repairing my AC in my SD. I replaced the
Compressor and the hose the connects to the compressor. I bought the
parts a while ago .. ( before my accident, I am now almost able to do
stuff again). The poets on the new compressor (GM R5 type) are
noticeably different than the old
Can you swap the manifold from the old compressor to the new one?
Often that is the only part that's different.
