[MBZ] 2.5T, delivery valve seals leaking, low power?

Will leaking delivery valve seals on a 2.5t cause low power? I have one that has 240D like performance at times it seems, has bad leaking seals, but runs great. Will the leaks cause lower power or should I look elsewhere? Yes, I will be replacing the seals anyway --- Kaleb C. Striplin

No smoke with bad knocking at idle, smooth above 1500 rpm and low power is the set of symptoms on my 300D that was cured by new delivery valve seals. Bad head gasket didn't help any there, either. No smoke, low power, and sluggish throttle reponse at low speeds can be plugged fuel filters --

When mine were leaking, they left a mess on top of the IP, left a distinct Diesel odor as you walked by the car, and it required significantly more cranking to start in the AM. I didn't notice any change in power after replacing them on either the 603 or the 602 engine. -- OK Don, KD5NRO Norman,

Well, I check the alda line, it seems fine. On this car is a little different than the 91. It comes out of the intake, goes to a Y, one of the Y's go to the ALDA, the other Y goes to a pressure sensor by the battery. Does not have the cutoff switch in between. I pulled the codes and it had

Kaleb: Pull a vaccum on the supply line. If it won't hold, the transducer is toast. I'd replace both of them, it's been known to fix the problem right up (or all three -- EGR, flap, and turbo boost control). If any one of the three is bad, the computer goes to limp mode, self explanatory.

Check the turbo and the waste gate control (electronic? If so, the transducer is likely bad, no boost!) Make sure you have good fuel delivery to the IP, too -- the hoses on the suction side can crack and leak air in -- lotsa knock and lousy power. Peter
