That could be it. The last few times I have driven it I hear a bit of
screeching which I thought sounded like a water pump but maybe it’s the
compressor or clutch or belt. I can get a new belt and give that a try, I
should replace it anyway.

Mine does something similar but I also get noise which is the address clutch
slipping it appears. I think my issue is the valves in the compressor are
sticking or something. The compressor will be running but stops cooling, if I
hit Econ to turn compressor off and on, it’s like the compressor
More likely a slipping belt -- if the compressor speed doesn't match the engine
speed, the smart relay will kick off the compressor until you re-start.
This is a safety feature to prevent a failed AC compressor from wrecking the
belt and leaving you with no power steering or alternator.
The 300E's A/C cuts out when it's raining, for some odd reason. If it
ain't raining, but the road's wet, it works fine. I suspect something to
do with the external temp sensor, which has never worked properly.

Do right after I say that the AC in the $500dizzel was BLOWING ICE COLD I leave
the gas station and tromp it, the AC stops BLOWING ICE COLD. other times it
does this I have got it to restart BLOWING ICE COLD after shutting it off and
turning it back on, or pushing the ECON button which I guess
