I’m guessing that’s what the dealer did but it didn’t last. I’m fed up with
tightening that belt so I just bit the bullet!

My first car broke an alternator bolt and I ended up
hammering a block of wood between the engine

and lock down the alt bracket with the other hand. I have done this on
MBs with buggered adjuster devices.

“rack and pinion” teeth on the mounting bracket are all worn. This problem left

BTW I had remembered to tighten the bolt, just forgot that I had remembered...
I checked it and it was tight.

Way to go , Curt. As you now, that alternator belt will need frequent
tightening -I think we have discussed
i like my local carquest guy. he's an old time parts guy and can get lots
of nice stuff fast and cheap. his store supplies many of the shops on the
main drag between stone mountain and snellville and he is the only guy in
teh area i can deal with.
the big chains aer completely lost. i walked
The belt squeals on mine too, usually on the first takeoff just after starting,
especially if the lights are on. I got a new belt, just need to put it on...
