I haven't noticed any noise from the rear bearings, it must be just
starting. What symptoms should I look for? Would the wheel have some play
in it due to the bearing?

Aha! Now I suspect the diagnosis. Generally you hear a rear axle
bearing long before you detect

These rear bearings are adjustable, right?
Yes. -ish. My 'new' rear SEL bearing was loose, and the shop (same
one that installed it) just tightened down the crush thingy some
more.
