Today i bought 5 gals of shell Tellus T15 or whatever the current
designation is for it ... it's a recommended suspension for the 1982
300td and others. At about $80 for 5 gallons it's a lot cheaper, as
well. I sold a gallon to a friend in atlanta for $20, so it goes fast.

Dragging rear at rest is probably the control valve, which is allowing the
base pressure to bleed off.
After you shut off the engine, open the SLS reservoir to watch the return
line outflow. If it keeps on dripping with no end until the rear sags, the
control valve is your culprit.
As Max pointed out, your problem is neither the struts nor the accumulators, it
is the base pressure circuit of the levelling valve.
MB rebuild kit for 123 (and probably 115 and 126) valves was part number
000-586-00-32. IIRC it included the base pressure valve spring among other
bits.
