Marshall, thanks for your input. There certainly could be other factors. I had changed glow plugs, timing chain, valve seals, fuel filters, battery, starter and probably a few other things with no change. Many of these were changed for other reasons, but some were changed to chase the

I had some cold starting issues as well prior to my change, including rough idle at cold startup and the IP seeming to lose its prime. (Air bleed cranking procedure) However, Dr. Booth is the expert here. -j.

It is possible that the copper seals had leaked too. As to the o-ring situation, This pump has leaked off and on for quite a while. (years) One thing i do know from experience is that it IS possible to have air leak through both rubber hoses and through rusty areas on steel lined under

How hard is this to do on the 617's? ~ ~I have no idea if I have defined a test for delivery valve seal ~leakage. All I can say is that if you have a diesel that is 15-20 years ~old and the IP o-rings have not been replaced, I highly recommend changing ~the o-rings, copper seals and springs.
