Unlike herpes, foam is not forever, especially if it's NOS.
I'd at least check it, it's easy enough to reach behind the
glovebox.

Perhaps the foam tube is gone, as Rob suggested. Then the heat would cut
out when the air inside the dash is adequately warm.

I replaced the missing (previously rotted out) foam tube from the dashtop temp
sensor, after I noticed the thumbwheel only worked at MAX. The thumbwheel now
is quite sensitive to movement, and quickly changes the ACC or heat. For the

working fine until I drove to Pbgh. for Christmas. The heat seemed to
function correctly at something less than the maximum heat setting for 1/2-1
hour and then the heat gradually disappeared. I had to swith the thumb
