in the 5spd manual, my '84 Ford Tempo had ATF in its 4spd
manual. I'd suspect most manual transmissions from the mid '80s on are ATF...

1 ATF) in the tranny.
The only cars besides MB that I know of that doesn't use gear oil in the
tranny were the MGs - they used engine oil.
