I’ve media blasted bundts clean of paint and clear coated the aluminum. A lot
easier to maintain, but they don’t have the “pop” the silver Wurth wheel paint
gives them.

I like all the MB wheels, as long as they are appropriate for the car - as
it came from the factory.

The bundts are rather ugly. Also a real PITA to refurbish. Getting road rash
off hubcaps is much more difficult than sanding and filling the boo boo on a
bundt. The pain of curb rashing the covers on the SL three years ago stings so
much more than the bundt on Allen I had just mounted.

Late hubcap wheels are alloy and lighter than the older steelies. I had them
on my '83 240D, they got passed on to Dimitri on the '78 240D. If he has any
sense he'll have kept them ;)
Mark me down as another in favor of hubcaps.

Roger- it is not just your bundts- I have them on my CD but just prefer the
classic painted hubcaps. No intent to offend.

Roger, the bundts are painted. I’ve bead blasted the paint off a number of them
and repainted them, and I’ve seen many with failed paint on them.
They’re also quite difficult to keep clean if you use organic brake pads.
It’s all a matter of preference, for sure. I just think the painted covers
No. They are a pita.
I much prefer the painted hubcaps. Preferably with alloy wheels.

Sorry Bob and Dwight, but Bundt's are the best. No paint to peel off, not as
heavy as the steel wheels behind the old fashioned hubcaps, and easier to clean
than the many small hole later wheels. We all have our preferences. So why
try to run down what someone else likes. I wouldn't say bad
Truth. Preach.

People who own classic cars with 14" rims who wants to be able to mount tires
that are larger than current trailer tires and more modern. Try to find a V
rated 14 inch tire to fit a SL. Vredstein or Coker make them, but you pay
anywhere from $250-500 per wheel. A 15 inch tire will be in the $

Lots of people. They’re rare as hen’s teeth for the most part. Put a set of
15” bundts or steelies on a W123 and W126 and they drive like a totally
different car.
