CO2 is also definitely noticeable at higher concentrations, it has a very sharp, even painful odor. Ever get a noseful of CO2 drinking a soda? You will also feel short of breath if you are in an atmosphere that is high in CO2, and you recover quickly when you are removed to fresh air.
