In Cambridge they work on clapped-out Volvos and Subaru issuemobiles
mostly, with lots of Issue Stickers holding them together around the rust.

I won't take my 83 wagon just anywhere. There are two shops that I trust
implicitly.

I've been listening to Click-Clack since the '70s and, considering laughter
is some of the best medicine known to man, this is a means of keeping one's
sanity and good health as their entertainment value is of primary
importance. I aslo think 80-90% of their diagnoses are probably correct;

Or Dodge. This guy wanted to know if 2002 Ram needed a valve adjustment.
Click-Clack told him that it depended on whether he had a 12v or 24v
They are great entertainers and licensed mechanics, but it is unrealistic to
expect them to know the intricacies of German engineered turbodiesel
technology. Very few of their customers drive a Benz into the Magliotti
repair shop.

I don't think they ever pretended to be diesel people. How many diesel cars
do you think they've worked on in their careers? And don't lose sight of the
fact that they are entertainment, not a community college class on
automotive repair. Nine times out of ten, they give pretty close answers,
There is some guy on Cartalk with an 83 turbodiesel, he put anti-gel in
teh fuel on a cross country trip, now it is leaking, running rough,
dripping, etc. 125k on the odo. They think he has a bad cylinder or
head or cracked block or bad cylinder or something. They are pretty
clueless.
If that is the program I think it is, I think you could take any 2
random members of this list, and they would have more applied,
practical knowledge of cars than those two bums. They get free new
cars of all sort to drive around, but know little about keeping cars running.
Sounds like he
Feed line is leaking air in.
Eventually it won't start.

Not sure who you are thinking of, but these guys are real mechanics who have
a real garage. They both have degrees from MIT. They just don't seem to have
much Benz diesel experience. I was thinking that at least one of them was a
Mechanical Engineer but apparently am mistaken.
Even Wonko the insane would know more than those 2 guys.

When I was at the Toot I went by their place one day to get something
looked at on my car, couldn't get anyone to pay any attention to me so I
left. That was before they had the radio show, but they were sorta half
well known for some reason that was not entirely clear, maybe among the
