That is exactly what i got. Last year of 320, 211 since 210's rust here in
NE & have 4matic. There were some issues fuel tank recall, transfer case
bearing. I just got warranty alert on Sunroof- have to go see stealer. Mine

Huge job. Engine out, tear down. That’s why I was wondering if a 500 could be
easily swapped in. My 05 E320 wagon seems decent.

Arnott. Actually, I'm thinking a 2005 E320 would probably be a pretty reliable
car. The later E350 with the balance shaft issues, not so much, unless it was
documented as being fixed. I wonder how big a job that is?

They must be different between the W220 and W211. The W220 ones are rebuild by
the air shock guys (I can’t recall the company name, but very reputable) and
are around $500/each, exchange.

I looked at the cost of rebuilt air units (or maybe they were new
aftermarket, I forget) and a set of 4 was like $1500 I think. This was
for the E500 that had the offroad adventure. Then some time to swap
them, which apparently is not too hard. I suppose it would be worth it
for a decent car
The W211 parts (suspension) that could fail are scary expensive.

Point well taken. As you probably noticed, they made reference to various
replacement parts in each of the reviews. Maybe they chose the cars due to the
parts that they are able to sell for them?

Any newer model designed from the ground up by Ford shouldn't be less
reliable than a Lincoln, should it?

As someone who started out wrenching for a living on Jaguars, I’ll say this -
later models after the Ford takeover in the 90s were surprisingly reliable.
They did have minor electrical issues, but nowhere near on the scale of earlier
models. My brother had a late 90s XJ something and in the 3-4
Theres also a Jag...

I was surprised by that, too. You could also say that they skipped the “Black
Death” on the diesels as well.
I just can’t fathom the Audi. They are all well known to be a major POS during
that time frame. Just ask any dealer tech who worked on them.

yeah I got to the part about engine-out maintenance for something, and
replacing a plastic line on the back of the engine that was prone to
breaking and leaking, could only be accessed with the engine out. wtf.
U, no thanks. Aside from the brakes SBC issue on the 211 (warranty
covered)
They covered SBC and AirMatic, but they failed to mention M272 engines,
when a LOT of W211 are E350s. I think the M272 balance shaft drive was a
bigger issue than Porsche IMS bearings, it just takes longer to hit you.
