Washington requires front plates. Michigan does not, so I don't have
the necessary hardware to mount one. I see the holes in the front
bumper, but looking into them, it's not clear to me what size hardware
is supposed to go in there. My Honda had tapped and threaded holes,
this doesn't appear
What model? On my 240D I just use screws nuts to hold the front plate on.

Yeah, W123. I'll take another look, but the holes appeared to be
blind. Maybe they aren't supposed to be, though. My car was put
headfirst in a ditch, at some point, and the air dam/valence area under
the bumper was pushed upwards in places.
You DO have to reach up blind at the back of the bumper with the
nuts. I used a pair of curved hemostats to hold the nut while I pushed
the bolt through from the front.
