I stole the GP relay from another car. Arkie starts right up now. The fuse was good. The good: It was dated 1986, so it was the original GP relay. The bad: I took it apart and there is a burned component within a coil. Maybe some heater to do with timing? Has anyone ever repaired a 005

SDL I've been working on got hard to start yesterday. I thought maybe air in fuel (bad hose) This morning it didn't start with reasonable cranking. Volts on both sides of the fuse, GPs good, no volties coming out the 6 pins. I'll try a new fuse before I pronounce it dead, but as of now,

The circuit compares #1 and each of the others, ...compares #1 against _all_ of the others! The circuit is quite clever and cancels the magnetic field generated by a single-turn winding on a relay that feeds #'s 2-5 (say) against a 4-turn counter-direction winding feeding #1. So long as #1

Jim, you amaze me. You explained so elegant how it does it. I am always occupied by Ohm's law and forget electro magnetic induction (Tesslers idea using it created AC,-- Chicago World Fair ---told Edison off). Who was the Italian that figured it out first? Galvan? Farady was not Italian. On Sun,

Howdy, After it refused to work for the little woman twice I decided to replace the Glow Plug Relay. The times if failed to work for her, it was midnght and she was trying to leave the hospital to come home. She tried cranking it until I told her to stop - didn;t want to fry the starter.

Is there any use for the old GP relay? Guess I'll save it as a spare ;-) They are subject to the same solder failures as all the other vintage MB electronics, and can often be brought back to life by resoldering. And unlike cruise controls and ACC systems, they're not that complicated inside.
