Jim once described his research and results for adding the proper amount of
butane and propane in order have a test mixture that worked well in his cars.
He uses this only in order to find leaks, blockages, etc. of course. It may
still be on his website.

I was redoing the whole system so it was all cleaned, new evap,
new cond, new compressor etc. I used mineral oil because that was
what was originally called for in the car. The Evercool is
compatible with mineral PAG or whatever the other oil is, can't
remember right now. It is also compatible

I've got a box of ES-12 I don't plan on using. Should I bring it to the

It’s still called “ES-12”. At least when I bought a case of it last year it
was.

They used to call it ES-12, but I suspect the EPA got on their case about it.
To obey the letter of the law, an automobile using R12 refrigerant must be
converted to R134a, before being changed over to any other

Since you don't
I don't use R12 but what I do use goes to 39 at those temps.

to keep it from freezing up. It shuts off the Compressor at 39.
We used to fill the R12 till there was no foam to be seen. A
couple of small bubbles are OK but mostly
Getting ready for our trip to Texas tomorrow, I have been adding R-12 to
the E300D's A/C system. Having added a can (Kaleb sent me one) I still
have bubbles in the sight glass. With OAT 75 - 80 deg.F., I have a center
air vent temperature of 55.
How cold is it supposed to get?
