Thanks Jim, all three motors operate in both directions when wired directly.

The switch is bad then, or the wiring. Probably the switch though.

There are five wires, two large and three small. The two large green
and red) go directly into the motor. The three small stop at a
connector attached to the motor, then go in. I can feed juice at the
pigtail connector.
