Floor shift, three arms. Middle arm is reverse. All were very easy
to move prior to removal of shift arm and replacement of the
bushing. Tried to both gently and vigorously disengage each shift
arm to get into a neutral position with them unhooked from the
linkages. Then I had he
You don't even need a wrench, but a channellock will help, unless it
is a floor shift toploader with the single arm on top. then you need
to take it out and take the top off at least.

Floor shift or column shift?
NON MB manual trans are famous for not getting out of one gear before
the other gear is engaged (different shift linkages) On my column
shift bronco, I would frequently have to crawl under and disengage
one linkage manually. I HAVE had that also happen on column s
Well, ship her some of Kaleb's cars, and let her have at it!

Offer to trade trannies with him for $100. Then you can
Catheyize Gump's tranny and write all about it.
Good plan, Mitch! I think that the word "Catheyize" should be in the
American Automotive Dictionary.

I would dive in, but SWMBA is very upset with my wrenching and cursed
me for allowing a $1.50 part install to lock up the trans. She has
taken my wrenches and is contemplating my coming out of retirement to
give me something other to do than break cars. Has something to do

Bring his by in a box with a six-pack and I could
spend a coupla hours dinking with it. At least
until the beer ran out!

I tend to agree Jim.I had an old Chebbie truck that was bad about
locking between gears if you shifted it too fast...The column shift
bushings were loose. Had to get under it many times a pry it out of gear
in the middle of traffic..

AAAHH!!! And I just had to tell the lady with the 76 Manny

my stinkin truck instead!!

That would be great. There has been a bunch of chatter on the list
about using Greyhound for shipping. Anything to get Gump out of the
shop and me out of the dog house with SWMBA. I really stuck my foot
in it. All for trying to change out $1.50 in worn rubber bushings.

Seems I killed it. The trans in Gump is truly boogered.
Ah, BUMMER! Send it down to Portland, and I'll install the tranny from that
junker '72 220D I was looking at. Betcha he'd give both of those cars away
now if he still has them. Seriously, it would probably cost too much to
ship that tr
That may work, but at this point I am out of the equation unless I
can source parts cheap. Gump is living at the shop until then, or I
get her towed to the Frybrid guy. He does good work, but is near
impossible to get on the schedule.

Perhaps the application of horsepower (and burning clutch) jammed it so hard you
can't get the syncros to slide apart?
I'd be tempted to try to
