Found out on my '82 that the culprit was the bushings in the shift linkage.
Too much play, not bad enough for the tranny, but marginal for the switch.
There is no adjustment on the switch AFAIK.

bushing in the transmission lever and the one on the shift lever. If
bad, the tranny lever won't be pushed all the way back in park.
