I've fired up the 7kVA FerrUPS, and it works. (Its only
problem is that the fluorescent display was degraded to
near uselessness.)
It draws 10A no-load, which is a lot worse than the 4A
no-load of the 3kVA unit. That's unattractive. However,
both units can eat ratty 240V power and spit out 2x
...The biggest yet. Joining our stable of the $35 2kW APC
(powering the computer array) and the free 3kVA FerrUPS (in
reserve) is a new 7kVA FerrUPS. $200. Turns out its batteries
were merely disconnected inside and at least two of the four
