I found both the Dakota and Ram on Craigslist. The Cummins is a 24v but I don't
really know what difference that makes. The Dakota has a 5.9l which makes me
very interested to give it a shot. My '96 was fun with a 5.2...

I did see your email with the Craig's list for the Dodge, that sounds like
a nice truck but wow, $12k for a 14 year old truck? Trucks also cost a
premium here, I think that is nuts. You've probably found one at a decent
price, I just don't understand the truck market.

160k, very little rust. It sits quite high which I *think* is
normal for a 3/4 ton truck. Extended cab but not a 4 door, 4wd of
course. Its quite a beast.
4WD will make it taller. 3/4 ton does not intrinsically make it
taller,
I was thinking that this was an improvement. 4 months ago I couldn't find any
trucks in the $10-$12k range. Remember I looked at a 2006 Tundra for $17k. I
think the Dodge is a better truck.
We went over today but they were closed. I'll go back next week. On second look
the Dakota for $6k looks
Auto trans, they claim a snowplow package making it tall. No spare tire on it
which I'm thinking could bring down the price.
It's got a block heater plug, how much am I going to need that?

Maybe fly down to Kaleb country, spend a week finding a decent truck and
then drive it home? Tour Okie acres, load the truck with MB parts for the
Chowda-q, visit someone on the way home, call it your summer vacation.

The asking price for a similar truck around here depending on the rust would
probably be somewhere in the $13 to $16K range. If it's under 200Kmi, people
think they have something.

Which, the Dakota? A $3k truck around here is full of rust and has over 200,000
miles.
That Dakota is the nicest truck for under $10k I've seen in years. I don't
think many people around here have bought a truck since 2006...

Yes the Dakota. The ram should be under 10 here, which is still high to me. If
you want a truck you should buy it here and drive it back.

A quick check finds it on Craigslist...
