Oh - and to follow up on the side effects, woke up this morning and feel fine,
like it never happened.

Yes. Along with all the other childhood diseases like mumps, measles, etc.
Hence the rationale for getting the shingles vaccine.

The internist did not mention this one having a shelf life, but the previous
option was less effective and did require a booster. My mother is waffling
about that, being old and not wanting the pain of either shot of shingles

Did you have chicken pox as a child? This is the cause of shingles, the
chicken pox virus re-emerging from a long sleep. If you didn't, you won't
every get shingles! Might explain the very strong reaction to the vaccine, eh?
Everybody got it back in the day pretty much, but a few
Shingrex is the vaccine of choice according to my internist. I’m not sure if
they even offer the “old” vaccine.
Randy, while our insurance system is flawed, nearly all insurers cover
preventative care 100%, such as immunizations and annual physicals. There can
be limits, as there once was for
I think the Shingrx is rated 80% effective while the previous one was,50%.
Shingles can be very nasty esp the long term lingering nerve pain..

Did you talk to the Dr about the effectiveness of this vaccine? I had
understood that Shingrix (sp?) was much better than the previously
available alternative and it was the one to get. However, recently there
have been suggestions that it may only be effective for about 4 years.
If that

I also had a not-fun night last night. I took Buster the dog out for a walk
around 4pm. I figured with rabbit season still on I'd tote the 20ga single.
Somewhere a couple years ago Buster developed a severe fear of guns but this
one folds in the middle so he doesn't seem to recognize it. He
I forgot to add that regularly “windmilling” the arm where I got the shot
definitely made a difference. It’s still sore but nothing approaching what it
was like with the first shot.

Last night was not fun. For whatever reason I froze to death all night long
despite having a massive blanket on top of the covers. I had to get up twice
during the night because I had drank a boatload of water in the evening.
When I got up, I was frighteningly thirsty. I had my regular large
I got the Hepatitis B vaccination when it first became available as I was
working as a Med Tech at the time. Three shot series, first one was no bother,
second one made me sick as a dog (hurt like crazy from injection on, fever,
sweats), third one I hardly felt.
I think it has something to do
Mine was sore too. Great week at work, one side sore from the shingles
vaccination and the other sore from a flu shot.
Vastly better than a case of either though.

Dang! It is that time again, almost, for me. Been over 30 days. Will need to
revisit the shop sometime this month for the repeat also. Will look to
schedule it for possible rerun of the malaise that first one had. Good that it
was not a full three day sidelining. Maybe the follow up is
Yes my arm hurt a lot after my second Shingrx shot. Pharmacist said it
would hurt

I got my shots at CVS. No after effects to speak of.

In my case there was no callback, it was incumbent upon me to schedule the
second time. But I got mine at Walgreen’s as my internist has had a hard time
keeping it in stock. The bulk of the practice is and has been geriatric
patients for some years, so they do a lot of immunizations.
They have
I've only had the first shot - they haven't called my back for the second
one yet. I had almost no issues with the first one.

Got my follow up shot this afternoon. I’m “windmilling” the snot out of that
arm as often as I can. Might not alleviate the side effects much, but it will
be interesting to see how much my upper arm hurts tomorrow.
