You may also want to disable Wi-Fi Protected Setup if your router/access
point has the option.

Definitely WPA2. Probably should have been more specific.
Pretty much every thing Tim says here is on point.
I get paid to break into stuff like this for a purpose, usually after someone
else has done it in order to do the forensics and lock things down even more
afterwards.

MAC address filtering is good, but like anything there are ways to spoof a MAC
address. A Pretty simple and easy way to limit access, at least until the kids
bring their friends over and they want wireless access
What it really boils down to is striking a balance between security and risk.

Hey there's about to be available a really cool electronic wallet called
Wocket, that stores an infinite number of credit, debit, or gift cards
which relies on biometric or self-chosen passwords. Watch the presentation:

Perfect example. I'll take bets the case was never filed, but cop forms
were filled out and filed... in the "to be forgotten forever file" at the
cop house.
On the other hand... my Mercedes vehicles are all working well. I've
followed with interest the thread on fuel nozzle parts... will continue
Just like when I tried to get Trent prosecuted for theft and wire fraud.

Simple answer, more than one property in Arizona, plus the ranch, plus
properties in other states, some of which are within the confines of
civilization [such as it is].
WIFI at the ranch house is not a worry, unless NSA is listening in on the
satellite connection [which they are].

Just finished a week long 60 hour SANS course on wifi hacking. All I can say is
that anyone who uses public wifi is asking for some serious abuse.
I chuckle at the thought of the fun I could have with all the people at

How far to the neighbors?

I was going to do this on one of my APs at the house until my DEA neighbor said
