On my ThinkPads, I just set the preference for "longest battery life" and
leave them plugged in most of the time. The batteries seem to last forever
showing 95-100% charge unless I'm using it somewhere without an outlet. I
get a couple of hours on my W530.

Yeah, it's not too mobile. But the 30" monitor that I'm using right

doesn't even get warm and is quiet, unlike what a laptop would
be doing under similar circumstances.

We rarely move the laptop around, mostly it sits on either the dining room
table or the kitchen table. I've taken that machine out of the house for
use maybe twice in two years, so an occasional awkard load is OK.
Why don't I get a desktop and nice monitors? Well we've had that set up
too, and

will only power it that long. Old school, mechanical - the

I've only had two laptops that I really used on a day to day basis.

Touch screen would be more better. I'm very happy with the speed of the i5
processor and 12GB of RAM. Oh well, I didn't see any point in waiting but
patience is a virtue...
Max, did Costco have the $480 laptop in warehouse?
This one's faster, $400 with touchscreen, $440 with 1080p.

Costco seems to do this a lot. Same thing with their "special offers" on
major appliances, e.g. dishwashers.

Costco no longer offer this on their website, but my local store had 16 in
stock a couple days ago, I think I'm going to get one today, on sale for
$480.
