I found something strange today when changing the oil.The tube attached
to the Filter Canister Cover has a hole in the bottom and a hole near the
top. The upper hole had what appeared to be a piece of plastic-like paper
partly in the hole. I pulled it and believe all came out although I

Stuart, I think I have an oil filter canister with a drain plug in the
bottom to drain the oil prior to loosing the canister. I drilled a hole
and brazed a nut on the bottom of the canister. Tapped the nut to take a
drain plug. Works great.

I'll be needing a new one.
Questions being:
Should be available new, they were a few years back when my brother got
his 300D and we found both a rolled lip AND missing mesh filter with
the spring on top
Don't know how much, but cheaper than junking the car.
To get it back on again correctly you must push it up into the housing
and
