When I did hinge work, I took the hood off. Once the replacement hinge was
in place, I put the hood
My trusted mechnic told me to take it to a body shop as there is no way to
access the lower bolts without R/R of the fender. If the fender is
original, it has been glued into place, so this is NOT a job for the
unprepared or hubristic.
I am basically a coward so will not arrempt to do this on my
I looked at mine again this morning. The spring mount tab on the body is
gone, anyone have suggestions? Think a new hook/tab could be welded in
there? IIRC the a pillar down channel is where its mounting on, meaning
I would have to drill through the square to mount a u hook or somethign.

Thats strange, takes me all of 5 minutes or less to pull one, less time

The spring is fine - it's the hinge that is bent where the release
lever is
located. When opening the hood you need to manually press the hinge
toward
the center of the engine to keep the hinge from catching on the hood
on its
upward travel.
Well bend it back then!

It's bent AND buggered. Not an option.

So how long would it take you to do the reverse?

Are you saying that beating the holy hell out of it
with a pair of BFH's won't do any good? Not even to
your mental health?

Maybe, but I already purchase a used hinge for very little $$s.
I want Kaleb to tell me how to do this in 5 minutes, hell even 10 minutes.

anything over about 81 in a 240D no longer has the fenders glued on, the

No, it does not require removal of the hood and fenders, if somebody
tells you that, they do not know what they are doing.

Any opinions of the the hinge lower hinge mount? My wifes TD was
purchased as a scarred vehicle. One of the major thing keeping me from
makin her purty is that lowe mount. I'll have to take a look at it again
but there didnt look like a whole lot of options.

Mine is buggered at the locking pin, not the lower connector.
