I am reading THE ADMIRALS. Chet Nimitz was instrumental in developing
a system to refuel ships at sea during WWI aboard the USS Maumee. Here
I have met a guy named Sam that retired from NASA quite a few years
ago. He developed the docking and clamp system first used on the Gemini
8 mission

I did a 90 mile round trip yesterday (high school graduation party) and out
of curiosity filled up (stuffing in as much diesel as possible) before I
left and then when I returned. Just under $16 dollars, and that was driving
very conservatively (55 mph) in a 240D. $4.46 per gallon!
