I've never had a problem doing that on my 617s... ??

What fun would that be?
Mine is a regular 17mm Craftsman socket with a bolt welded to one
side, and a slot the width of the injection line ground into the
opposite side. It's worked great over the years, but doesn'

When there's room I have clamped a big vise-grip over the
outside of the wrench to hold it closed. It helps.

Bought a 17mm crowfoot from Matco years ago but was disappointed because it
was too big to loosen the IP nuts separately on the 1967 200D and the
injector lines had to be taken off one at a time. Just now looked at it
closely and it's a Snap-on! Went out and checked it on the '83 300D and

Those HF flare nut wrenches are great...so long as the nuts were so
loose to begin with that you could have got them off with an open end.

I think I paid $7.99 for a set of metric flare nut crowfeet at Harbor Freight.
A snaller set is $5.99 on the net now.

I can get all of them off with a normal wrench... but a crow foot would
certainly make things easier. :)

I would not disturb the line clamps, I'd take all five off the IP, then
off the injectors, and move the assembly out of the way.

I'm not sure if I would do it again with the '83 'SD, but I was able to move
each line out of the way on my '77 300D and tighten it back down onto the
new injector. This may have opened up the possibility for later line
breaks.

Hello everyone.
I finally got around to replacing the injectors on my 78 300D. I had a
couple of them that needed the holes cleaned out before the heat shields
would seat properly. Exhaust would shoot out past the injector. Is this a
common thing? I eventually got everything buttoned up an
