To replace an old connecting rod with a new updated rod may be possible if you can remove the old rod and have the new rod matched to the old. If not the extra mass of the new and stronger, i.e. heavier, rod will throw things off. Consider, the few grams of extra mass will be reciprocating from zero to 3000 rpm in usual service and perhaps more in highway cruising. I would not do that to any of my engines for fear of vibration that may well end in catastrophic failure. My $.02
