Over 4 in west LA. It is probably a buck cheaper in the port though.

Makes me not feel so bad. I got diesel yesterday for $3.14/gal. Gas is $2.85

The turbo charger packs more oxygen into the fuel/air charge which burns
more of the fuel injected into the engine, thus more energy is "released"
for the same amount of fuel [instead of some of the same volume of fuel
being un-burned and sent out the exhaust pipe.]
Same fuel + more oxygen = more
A turbo charger makes a diesel about 30% more efficient. Somebody using that
power to drive faster and use more fuel does not negate the increased
efficiency of the engine...

Agreed. But people do use the extra power. I don't think the turbo cars
actually produce better economy for that reason, typically. This has been
one of the main criticisms of modern diesels actually; the vehicles are
often overpowered and large, which negates any inherent efficiency
advantages in
Burning more fuel because of more power only happens if you're actually using
the additional power. The turbo actually adds something like 30% more
efficiency to a diesel engine.
For example, a 617 turbo will get better fuel economy than a 617 NA while being
MUCH more pleasant to drive...
The turbo allows more fuel to be burned per injector per rpm/2. So a turbo
motor is going to burn more fuel because it is capable of making more power.
The 210 is probably bigger, heavier, and less aerodynamic than the w124.
Anyone have numbers?
The w124 is definitely more attractive.

They made a huge change in 2008, but I imagine the test protocol got revised
several times over the years. I know my 2016 Cruze is 42hwy and the identical
2017 is 40hwy, but I don't know if it the change was in tuning or testing.

The .6 has a lockup torque converter,
Diesel fuel prices are dropping here now. They peaked at around $3.05 I
think, yesterday I say $2.79.
Fuel consumption in The White Whale has been creeping back up. I had a few
tanks that hit 24 mpg, now back down to 22 mpg. I've had the roof cross
bars mounted for a bit, and haven't checked
It appears as if I may be acquiring a 96 E300 so I thought I would
compare it to all the other 606 power vehicles in my fleet on
fueleconomy.gov. So basically 95, 96, 97, 98. As we know, 95 is the
last year 124 and has the 4 speed 722.4. 96 was 1st year 210 with
basically the same
