Thanks guys. It's the cheapskate in me that's telling me to get all the use
out of the old one that it can give. But I think you all are right. When it
decides to quit, it will quit and I'll be forced to take emergency action -

I realize that this is a question/comment that probably doesn't have a
definitive answer, but:
The starter that was intermittently working a couple months ago is working
very consistently these days. It was giving me no response on a few
occasions, then it would work after several turns of the
Return that starter, and I'll guarantee ya that your old one will most
certainly die. Let's see how long it'll last!

There are many, many things that are easy enough to change at a gas
station or do in the breakdown lane of the freeway to keep from having to
pay
