hmm I have $10K in my car I have put 40K on it in
2.5 yrs and the insurance co has offered me 8500 so my
price /mile is .0375 but I still have the car so I
could get it down to where my miles are free

In advance of selling my 240D to a coworker I went through all the receipts I
have and added them up. In the last 48,000 miles and 1 month short of 3 years
it cost me right around $6,500 not including fuel but that does include the
purchase price.
So that seems like around $.0135 a mile. IIRC
