I’m not too happy about the removal of a headphone jack on the iPhone.

I did not see the email you mentioned so I you could forward it to me directly
that would be great.

Our VDI environment is non-persistent VMs for the most part. Use it, toss it.

Apple is downward spiraling all together, they're making products to sell more
products rather than "thinking different". They're removal of useful ports that
they pioneered just a couple years before is very telling. I consider removal
of the SD card slot to be a crime against humanity.

I was going to say "we don't support video editing from a VM" but actually we
do. Go price an nVidia Tesla v100, I'll wait...
Now you see why I don't care to edit video from a VM. ;) Plus you need a thin
client and theres an AV offset you have to compensate for, its kind of a pain.
Really cool
No I meant from fresh media, by which I mean download the .iso for Win10 and
use Rufus to make a boot disk.
Going to fresh media is a good idea too.

Kaleb,
I sent you some file attachments, but neither my email or the files seem to
have made it through to you. If you get them, try the Upgrade Assistant
(original). It was good at finding and showing actual reasons that your PC is
not ready for an upgrade. It was the reason I found out

Macs are not what they used to be.
Years ago they were light years ahead of Microsoft but over time the two
have converged. Microsoft has gone up and Apple has gone down. I remember
back in 2007 or so using a neighbors printer with my Mac and he said I'd
probably have to install some device

I banish those specialty applications to a virtual machine. And I
have a bunch. [sigh] The host is GNU/Linux. From the host
(Linux) I have good software for browser, email client, pdf
viewer, pdf

Apple is even worse when it comes to forced upgrades...

Do you mean "reinstall TO fresh media"?
A new SSD is cheap compared to buying a whole new PC. Maybe his system can
accept two hard drives, so he can keep his existing drive as the data disc.

Agreed on both counts.
I use several different distros of Ubuntu at work for security tools. Rock
solid OS, easy to work with, plays nice with just about everything.

If I didn't have specialty applications to support I'd run Ubuntu Linux. Its
stable, easy to use, easy to install and comes with a bunch of productivity
stuff built right in.
Kaleb needs to back up his data and reinstall Windows from fresh media. I NEVER
upgrade an OS if I can help it. All
Personally, I'd stick with Win7. The computer seems to prefer it. :)

Or he could buy another PC. After reading all the tooth gnashing and
grumbling about the Macs on this list, it just confirms for me that there
is no perfect system. I've (knocking on wood) had very little trouble with
Microsoft's OS's, including the hated and reviled ones. I built the "image"

Where would I find the log? I went into event viewer and there are several
categories? What sort of thing would I be looking for? It’s the same error as
before which I attached. I did notice on device manager there was some sort of

Just did it, worked perfectly. Nice, I've got win 10 using 64 but and
recognizing all 8 GB RAM. Next is install software and restore date files, etc.
Are you trying a clean install, or upgrade with keeping your files / data etc.?

Kaleb,
What was the error code this time? And please look for a log file for more
specifics. I'll bet when you find the cause it is something simple. Do you
have any "strange apps" that Win10 needs to make compatible from Win7? Take
everything out of your startup folder and retry. You
Try this, if you have a spare hard drive so you can keep the old and not
lose your data.
Download the clean installation from here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10
Install a clean version, and when you connect to internet and it asks for
the key, use your Win7 key.
After installing all windows 7 updates available and I have no av software
running I ran the upgrade again. Failed again.
