almost correct!
w123 wagons started showing up in the US w/ turbos in '81. coupes and
sedans, not 'til '82.

My 82 300CD is a turbo and has VIN X00013 so they probably started
production that year.

Turbo starting 1982, ending 1985. Can't remember when the 123 coupe
first came out, but through 1981 the diesel was NA.
Looks like '78 - '81 - NA and '82 - '85 Turbo.
