For some stupid reason unknown to me, my pump will not go past 26hg even when just pumping to the MityVac gauge. GRRR. Now I'm going to swap out the drier and take it to my mechanic for the rest of the Evac. It did hold the 26hg over night. Luther Peter Frederick wrote: Until it holds 29

For some stupid reason unknown to me, my pump will not go past 26hg even when just pumping to the MityVac gauge. GRRR. Is it a proper 2-stage vane pump? Ever changed the oil? Does it make that hollow rattling sound it's supposed to? Do you have a bleeder screw on the pump that's stuck or been

It's a 2 stage Gast pump that is sealed and you do not change the oil. To my knowledge, there is no bleeder screw. I checked the vacuum of the pump with 2 different MV gauges and an independent gauge. It might just be tired/worn out and in need of a rebuild. Luther Jim Cathey wrote: For

If it's an oil-less pump, you should use a trap and filter to protect it from crud entering the intake. -Dave Walton On Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 11:37 AM, Luther [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: It's a 2 stage Gast pump that is sealed and you do not change the oil. To my knowledge, there is no bleeder

So, my local NAPA store has a good selection of a/c o-rings and the system is now together and the vacuum pump is doing it's duty. So, with a system that has moisture in it (from the flush) how long should I let the vacuum system run? Currently it's at 26hg. Luther Luther wrote: Working on

Until it holds 29 for at least an hour. If it's only 26 either your gauge is off (not impossible), the system has a lot of water in it, or you have a leak (or an undersized pump). Peter ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list
